Faxe Chalk Mine

Due to industrialization and technological development, we as a society are sitting down a great deal of our everyday life, both at work and at home. Based on a desire to change this evolution, I want to rethink our use of living room furniture, so that our static sitting behavior becomes more active and dynamic. I have been inspired by children’s playful and intuitive use of living room, space and furniture. This, with a desire to use their bodypositions to shape furniture to activate and strengthen the body. Meant as an alternative to the conventional sofa, table and armchair, my project consists of 3 sculptural furniture, designed to activate the body, based on a focus on multiple sitting positions, mobility and tactile surfaces. The sculptural value and tactility of the surfaces has been chosen based on their ability to stimulate the senses. Colors and textures are inspired by Faxe Chalk Mine, both by the peripheral, monochrome landscape and by the close-up view, in its flora with its wide variety of colors and textures.
