String

A collection blending conceptual ideas of space, time, and consciousness with string and fiber as the building block of textiles. The collection references the yearning for a more meaningful relationship with our surroundings. We desire to identify the intrinsic materials of our environment. While string and fiber are fundamental to textiles, individual expressions of sentience are fundamental to a collective consciousness. The creation of this collection intends to interpret these ideas into design and form. The string becomes cloth as sentient beings co-create the collective.

Through weaving the collection explores construction and dimension. Experimentation with double weave, pleating effects, and natural materials are combined to create three-dimensional forms in space. These techniques further demonstrate the significance of string as a bond between the material and immaterial and become integral components to the collective consciousness.

The palette is influenced by our conception of space, focusing on shades of black, navy, and white. Additional color inspiration comes from fiber and string in their original state. The concept embraces the natural qualities of the materials and considers the impact of materials from production to decomposition. Driven by conceptual designs, the collection can translate to high-end fashion with minimal adaptation.
